Privacy Policy

Overview

Mavy (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a reading companion for iPhone. This policy describes what information is handled when you use Mavy. Mavy is designed so your reading notes and page photos stay on your device for private study — not as a cloud library or web book service.

No account

Mavy does not require an account. We do not operate a Mavy user database of your books, notes, or page photos.

Information on your iPhone

The app stores locally on your device (for example via on-device storage):

• Books you add — titles, authors, covers, and reading format you choose.
• Sessions & Trail — reading times, notes, check-ins, and Ask this page Q&A text.
• Page captures — photos or pasted text you provide for Ask this page; OCR text used to answer, processed on device when Apple Intelligence is available.
• Preferences — reminder settings, Pro / trial state mirrored from the App Store where applicable.

We do not upload your page photos or Trail to our servers. There is no Mavy cloud sync in the current product.

When something leaves the device

• Optional book lookup — if you tap Look up, the app may send the title and optional author you entered to Open Library (or a similar public catalog) to fetch metadata and a cover. You can skip lookup.
• Apple Books link enrichment — if you choose Apple Books as a format, the app may request store metadata for an “Open in Books” link.
• Purchases — Mavy Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple. Apple handles payment, receipts, and related account data under Apple’s privacy policy.
• Notifications — if you enable the daily reminder, iOS delivers a local notification on your device. We do not run a Mavy push server for that reminder.

On-device answers use Apple’s on-device models where available. We do not send your page text to a Mavy-operated AI backend.

How we use information

• Provide reading sessions, Shelf, Trail, and Ask this page on your iPhone.
• Unlock Mavy Pro features when Apple reports an active subscription or during an eligible trial.
• Improve reliability of the app on your device.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your reading data for third-party advertising.

Your choices

• Skip catalog lookup when adding a book.
• Disable the daily reminder in Settings.
• Delete the app to remove local data from that iPhone (standard iOS uninstall).
• Manage or cancel Mavy Pro in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Children

Mavy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
